Log Market Report

Northwest Management, Inc., specializes in intensive merchandising and marketing of forest products to capture optimum value.  NMI publishes this quarterly Log Market Report that summarizes log prices from a large geographic area in the Northwest.

Services Include:

Market Overview
The log market has continued to soften in response to an oversaturated housing market with foreclosures and a surplus of unsold homes.  Mills continue to curtail production by reducing hours and dropping shifts.  Many mills are not purchasing logs and some have temporarily shut down.  Cedar prices remain steady and are expected to remain strong into the second quarter.  Pine prices have softened slightly in a few areas.  Small diameter sawlogs (tonwood) prices remain steady.  Pulp prices have improved since last quarter as residual chip supply has tightened.  The market outlook is for little or no improvement into second quarter.
